Kirkby Town 2-6 Basford United CML South

Zigzag £4.90  Entrance £3 Programme £1

From Nottm Victoria Bus Station I caught the 3C bus heading to Mansfield from bay4 at 12.55pm. This stopped on Alexander Street in Kirkby just a street away from the Summit Centre on Pavillion Road. I caught the same number bus for the return journey on the other side of Alexander street at 17.39 arriving Nottingham 18.30. I had time to look around the area before kick off as I couldn't find a pub selling real ale.

During the week Kirkby had lost most of the first team, the Manager left taking his best players with him. An hour before the game the Kirkby officials were on their mobile phones trying to get a team to face Basford. They managed to get 12 in time for kick off, mostly reserve team players. Credit to the lads that turned up, they gave Basford a good game but eventually succumbed 2-6. Nice ground, hard standing all around and a good sized seated stand running from the halfway line to the corner flag. No floodlights but I understand Kirkby are having talks with the Summit Centre owners.
